The original Landsdowne Steacy. He was born in Wexford Ireland in 1779 and died in Brockville in 1848. He was the son of Joseph and Anne Steacy, who owned a flax mill that had burned down. Dennis was the fourth of seven children. He had left Ireland as a result of the Wexford rebellion, in which the family farm house had been partially burnt down. He had married Elizabeth Bridget Graham. They had twelve children and came to Canada 1832.
