The original Earl in Canada, as he was born in Wexford in 1792. His Father owned a commercial shipping business based in Ireland. One brother took over the headquarters. Another brother settled in BC, who had a descendant who became a member of parliament. He married Margaret Taylor and settled down near Cornwall, and later moved near Landsdowne.
Captain Billy Earl lived to a very advanced age and died 1872. His tombstone still exists in Union Cemetery.
