As well as Thomas T, Gilbert also came to Canada. From Census data, it is known that he lived in Winnipeg in 1911 at 503 Wardlaw with his wife Lois Margaret Henson (born 1880). Harold Gordon Henson left Lethbridge to live with them to further his education when he was 19. They never had children of their own. He died in 1947 and is buried in Penticton in the Oknagen district of BC. The grave can be see here. His wife Lois was born in 1877 and lived a long life until 1968. She is buried in the same cemetery.
The stories of his life was varied but difficult to verify. It is believed that he first went to India after leaving in England and worked on the railroad industry. He then moved to Winnipeg and worked on the street car industry. During that time, he made many shrewd investments. He ended up moving to BC where he opened an apple orchard. Lois lived the rest her life in Victoria, where she was visited by Walter Henson in the early 60s.
